Something …

… in her eyes and in her breath; I feel it,
a quiet sense of eternity.
When she smiles my heart goes reeling
like lovers swimming in a sea
of endless velvet nights in warm embrace.
… in the way she moves; a graceful dance learned long ago;
a waltz from Strauss, a solemn step like the river that flows
where once we ran and laughed like children, holding hands and kissing faces.
… in my heart is always with her, always was and always will.
When this love stands the test of time, I’ll meet her then atop that hill
where names engraved on iron crosses greet each sunrise and kiss the night
with a quiet sense of love.
… in my heart stays with her, though time and distance hold a candle
bravely against the darkest night; a flickering beacon shines brightly from somewhere above
the raven night like a lonely star, a galaxy away from where
we started
something.
